COMMUNITY GROUPS & CLUBS

The Tasman/Kina area is made up of a diverse range of community from orchardists and farming people to lifestylers, who choose to live in this beautiful coastal environment.

It comprises populations of people who have either lived here for many generations or have chosen to come and live here from elsewhere in New Zealand or from overseas. As such the area has a high sense of community belonging.

  • We are proud of our two local primary schools.
  • There are a number of community groups and sporting groups

Education

There are two primary schools in Tasman which take school age children from Year 1 to Year 8.

Tasman School       www.tasman.school.nz

The Principal advises that the school is "proud to be part of such a high achieving team. This school has a strong active community, fantastic students and a superb staff. We constantly reach for the stars and often touch them!"

Tasman Bay Christian School       www.tasbaychristian.school.nz

The school is "is a medium-sized primary school with a happy family environment...... which hasmodern facilities and plenty ofroom for children to learn and play both inside and outside. It maintains a distinctly Christian learning environment and teach from a Biblical world-view".

On or about the 1st Saturday of each month at 0930 hours for a couple of hours a bunch of dedicated volunteers continue the work started more than 6 years ago to restore this barren site on the inlet to Reserve status. With lots of support from TDC over the years the site is now looking established and current tasks involve the forming of designated walkways and picnic area.

If you would like to join in contact the team leader Tony Pearson on 03 540 3217  or email tonypearson@xtra.co.nz for more information.

It's rewarding and fun work.
